“Watching a peaceful death of a human being reminds us of a falling star; one of a million lights in a vast sky that flares up for a brief moment only to disappear into the endless night forever.” -Elizabeth Kubler Ross
Unfortunately, in the case of the person I remember today, a peaceful death did not happen. Today, I remember my sister, whose imperfect life met a tragic end 18 years ago. I remember her smile, her laughter, her sense of humor, and I remember her love for me, my mom, and her children. I think of her as a fallen star. My prayer is that the compassion of Jesus met her spirit and that she now walks with Him in eternity.
